Creative Minds : Gabriele Di Martino
Bello Magazine: Gabriele, it’s great to have you with us. Let’s start with your journey. What inspired you to become a photographer, particularly in the fashion and celebrity space?
Gabriele Di Martino: Thank you for having me! My journey into photography began in Italy, where I was captivated by the power of images to tell stories. Fashion and celebrity photography drew me in because it combines artistry with the dynamics of personality and style. There’s something exciting about capturing those fleeting moments that showcase both beauty and character. Each project I take on adds to my passion for this art form.
Bello Magazine: You recently shot a cover with Madior in Italy. What was that experience like, and how did you approach this particular shoot?
Gabriele Di Martino: Shooting with Madior (and Simona, the stylist) was incredible! The energy on set was electric, and being back in Italy brought a beautiful city backdrop to the shoot. I wanted to highlight Madior’s charisma and elegance while also capturing a genuine sense of who they are. We played with light and color to create a vibe that felt fresh, vibrant and timeless. It was all about finding those authentic moments that reflect both Madior’s personality and the essence of Italian streetstyle fashion.
Bello Magazine: As a photographer, what do you believe sets your work apart from others in the industry?
Gabriele Di Martino: I think it really comes down to my focus on my personality and authenticity. I strive to capture the true essence of my subjects, not just their outer beauty. I want to create images that resonate with people on a deeper level. Each person has a unique story and beauty, and I try to reveal that through my lens. I believe that when you connect with your subject, it translates into more powerful images.
Bello Magazine: You’ve had the opportunity to work with various celebrities and fashion icons. How do you prepare for a shoot to ensure you create something memorable?
Gabriele Di Martino: Preparation is key but sometimes everything is way more spontaneous than you can imagine. I spend time researching my subjects, understanding their style, and thinking about how we can best showcase their personality. I also like to create a relaxed environment on set—when people feel at ease, it shows in the photos. I go in with a vision, but I always leave room for spontaneity because the best moments often happen unexpectedly.
Bello Magazine: What was a standout moment during your recent shoot with Madior?
Gabriele Di Martino: Being with a group of longtime friends working on the same projects in my home country. The light was just perfect, and you could see Madior’s confidence shining through. It was one of those magical instances where everything clicked—the mood, the setting, and Madior’s energy. I knew we had captured something special that would resonate with viewers.
Bello Magazine: What advice would you give to aspiring photographers looking to break into the fashion and celebrity scene?
Gabriele Di Martino: My biggest piece of advice is to stay true to yourself and your vision. There’s so much inspiration out there, but it’s essential to develop your own voice and be confident about your skills. Build genuine connections with people in the industry; relationships are everything. Lastly, never stop learning and experimenting. Every shoot is a chance to grow and find your unique style so don’t be afraid to try new things.
Bello Magazine: Looking ahead, what are you excited about in your career? Any upcoming projects you can share?
Gabriele Di Martino: I’m really excited about what’s next! I have a few projects in the pipeline that I can’t wait to dive into but lots of things often come unexpectedly. Collaborating with new people and moving to another country and city has also inspired me to push my creative boundaries even further. I’m always looking for ways to innovate and capture fresh perspectives in my work.
