Dior’s Feminist Dress for Natalie Portman
The trend of “feminist cape” at the Oscars…
On Sunday, February 9th, the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles hosted the 92nd Academy Awards ceremony. Every year, this event rewards the best in cinema, and of course, people all over await impatiently for the fabulous red carpet looks.
Natalie Portman stood out on the carpet as she used style to send a feminist message. Portman is known for calling out sexism in the movie. The actress stepped onto the red carpet wearing a Dior gown and matching cape that paid tribute to the female directors who were snubbed at this event.
“I wanted to recognize the women who were not recognized for their incredible work this year, in my subtle way,” said actress.
Natalie Portman wore a flowing dress made of silk tulle embroidered with wheat ears border, talisman which is a symbol of the creative power of woman, and semi flowers in antique gold thread by the Vermont Workshops. Her iconic cape is made of wool and silk with a leather satin lapel.
This was a haute couture piece that required 6 people and nearly 600 hours of work.
“Dior must participate in the emancipation of women,”said Maria Grazia Chiuri, artistic director of Dior. With its creation, the brand conveys a beautiful feminist message…
