Nike's Kobe 8 Protro "Shanghai Fireworks" lands Nov 11, bringing a once China-exclusive colourway to everyone else.

For more than a decade, one Kobe sneaker belonged to China alone. On Nov 11, the Kobe 8 Protro “Shanghai Fireworks” ends that exclusivity.

The shoe revives a colourway that Nike released only in China in 2013. This time it comes with Laser Orange graphics and updated Nike React cushioning, so the look is a throwback and the underfoot feel is current.

That pairing is the whole logic of the Protro line. The silhouette and the story stay, and the tech gets a refresh. In this case the story is a regional release that most collectors outside China could only admire from a distance.

The “Shanghai Fireworks” name does the storytelling on its own. It ties the pair to a specific city and a specific moment, and the Laser Orange graphics supply the spark. The release date is Nov 11.
