The Parisian fragrance house brought its signature luxury and creativity to Santa Monica for an unforgettable evening with Rocky Barnes.
On Wednesday, October 14, Parisian luxury fragrance house EX NIHILO took over the beautiful Santa Monica Proper Hotel for an intimate evening of fragrance discovery, cocktails, and a little bit of magic. Co-hosted by fashion influencer and entrepreneur Rocky Barnes, the event brought together the brand’s community for a sensory experience that was anything but ordinary.
And of course, BELLO Magazine was there to experience it all!

From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was effortlessly chic, blending Parisian sophistication with California’s laid-back energy. Guests were invited to discover the world of EX NIHILO through its signature fragrances, personalized experiences, and creative cocktails.
One of the evening’s most unique experiences was the personalized aura readings. Each guest had the opportunity to discover their aura and receive a fragrance inspired by their individual energy and personality. A fun and unexpected way to explore the world of perfume!
The evening also gave us the chance to discover some of EX NIHILO’s most iconic creations, including Blue Talisman, Lust in Paradise, and Fleur Narcotique, each paired with its own signature cocktail. Because why simply smell a fragrance when you can sip a cocktail inspired by it, too?
A Special Moment with Co-Founder Benoît Verdier

One of our favorite moments of the evening was meeting Benoît Verdier, one of the three founders of EX NIHILO, alongside Sylvie Loday and Olivier Royère, who launched the Parisian fragrance house in 2013.
Benoît personally introduced us to several fragrances, inviting us to smell and discover their different personalities. It was a special opportunity to experience the collection through the perspective of someone who helped create the brand.
His passion for fragrance and creativity made the experience even more memorable, reminding us that behind every beautiful scent is a story waiting to be discovered.
Discovering What’s New
Beyond its signature fragrances, EX NIHILO also introduced guests to its latest creations, Demon Dancer and Lust in Paradise Extrait, offering a closer look at the brand’s evolving fragrance universe.
Guests could also explore the body collection, bringing the EX NIHILO experience beyond perfume and into everyday beauty rituals.
Known for its modern approach to French haute parfumerie, EX NIHILO continues to challenge traditional fragrance codes, combining creativity, craftsmanship, and individuality.

Between the beautiful setting, creative cocktails, fragrance discoveries, and inspiring conversations, EX NIHILO delivered an evening that perfectly captured the spirit of the brand: luxurious, unexpected, and full of personality.
For us at BELLO, it was a wonderful opportunity to discover new scents, reconnect with the world of Parisian perfumery, and meet the people bringing these creations to life.
