5 Packing Tips for an Upcoming Resort Trip
Planning an upcoming resort trip for you and your family can be very exciting. Some of that excitement can get overshadowed by the stress that comes with figuring out what you should pack. It can be equally frustrating to end up packing too much or too little for your trip. To make your packing a little easier, below are some tips to get you started.
- Clothing
One of the most important things you will pack is the clothing you and your family will need during your resort vacation. Check out the activities your resort will offer to help you plan the type of outfits you will need. If your resort has laundry services, you may get away with packing a little lighter.
Each member of the family should bring one daytime outfit for lounging around and checking out the local shops. If there will be swimming involved, bring two to three bathing suits and designer resort wear. This can include a nice dress or pants suit.
You will also want to bring accessories for the clothing such as jewelry, sunglasses, hats, flip-flops or sandals, cover-ups for the pool and pajamas. If the resort is located somewhere where there are cooler nights, bring jackets or light sweaters to keep warm.
- Medications and Repellant
Before leaving for your trip, be sure you have your prescriptions pre-filled. You will need enough of your medications to get you through your vacation. Not only should you pack your prescribed medication, but you should also bring some over-the-counter options just in case. Many resorts sell the OTC medications you want, but they will cost more. Also be sure to bring things such as bug repellent, band-aids and aloe vera gel in case you get a sunburn.
- Compartmentalize Your Belongings
Unless you want to lug around extra suitcases, you will have to get creative with your packing. For example, you can stuff some of your undergarments into your shoes and extra bags. Put your toiletries in a ziplock bag in case they end up leaking. It may be tempting to stuff your luggage full, but filling every crevice can ruin your stuff and save no room for souvenirs you want to bring home.
- Carry Heavy Items and Valuables
One of the best packing tips for resort trips would be to carry heavier and valuable items with you if you are flying. Never check-in your expensive items such as laptops, camera equipment, expensive jewelry, and hard drives. Consider putting your heavier items in your carry-on to minimize how much your check-in luggage weighs. Add a few essentials into your carry-on bags such as a toothbrush and toothpaste, snacks, books, and medication. You never know what you might need before you reach your destination.
- Use Apps to Plan Your Trip
There are many great applications available to help you perfectly pack for your upcoming resort trip. Apps such as PackPoint allow you to organize your packing list, check the weather at the resort before you leave and share your list with other travelers. Other apps will allow you to organize your flights, hotels, and activities all in one place.
Always take your time planning what to pack for your resort trip. The more prepared you are, the more fun you will be able to have. You and your family will be ready to take on all of the adventures waiting for you.
