Internationally acclaimed Filipina star, Lovi Poe, released her new single release ‘Under,’ and is planning on releasing her next single and full EP later this year. Inspired by the love that surrounds her, the artist uses her music to express who she is freely and openly. Embracing who she is and ready to take on the world, there is no stopping this beautiful and talented artist. This year is looking “like the perfect time to fly,” for Lovi Poe and we can’t wait to see what comes next!
What motivates/inspires you as an artist? Share with us one of you most unique inspirations to date.
I draw inspiration from people who support me and want to see me win. The ones who say I inspire them should know that it’s the other way around.
When you hear the final version of your upcoming EP for the first time, how does it feel?
To be able to express myself through music has always been a dream. It’s one of those “pinch me” moments.
How has your family background influenced your career choice? Can you tell us more about your childhood and share with us a story that impacted you strongly?
My story is quite unique and colorful. I guess it’s safe to say that my love for acting and music runs in the blood. My hardships and struggles growing up were used as tools to rise and turn dreams to reality.
Growing up, who was someone you looked up to the most?
I really didn’t have someone I consider a role model. It’s a pretty tough job to fill. I guess different life stories of people even strangers that were able to transcend into their best selves inspire me the most.
How do you balance being a singer and actress? What do you love most about each career?
To me, music and film go hand in hand.
To express is number 1.
Acting is therapeutic for me as I get to release emotions I bottle up in real life. While music makes you “feel” even more. It even “feeds” whatever it is that you’re feeling.
In what ways has the last year taught you more about yourself?
The past year has been an awakening for most of us. To be given enough time to pause and reflect opened my eyes to things I was too busy to entertain. Although I’ve always worked hard to design the life I want to live, I have moments where fear kicks in and I shy away from opportunities. When the world was put on hold, I realized how I’ve wasted time in moments I could’ve just been brave.
If you could collab with anyone (in music and film), who would it be and why?
I dream to work with a lot of talented people in the industry but at the top of my head…
Finneas and Max Martin for music.
Darren Aronofsky and Martin Scorsese for the film.
What does 2021 look like for you?
Looks like the perfect time to fly.
