Happy Singh: A Rising Voice in Hip-Hop
Happy Singh is a Los Angeles–born rapper, singer, producer, and songwriter whose evolving career reflects a deep dedication to his craft. Influenced by hip-hop from a young age, Singh first built his foundation writing and producing for other artists, including rising talent Mathew Noszka under Irv Gotti’s Murder Ink Records. Eventually, he shifted his focus toward developing his own voice, crafting music that showcases his unique style and vision. His growing reputation in the industry has already earned him opportunities to open for acts like Tyga, Jeremiah, and Yo Gotti, positioning him as a distinctive force in hip-hop’s next generation.
B: Creativity often strikes in unexpected ways. Where do you find yourself most inspired, and how do you capture those ideas before they slip away?
HS: I get ideas in the most random places—when I’m not pressured to perform—like at the gym, in the shower, or at dinner. If I’m not near my studio, I use voice recordings on my phone to capture the moment before it fades.
B: Every artist has a “why.” What drives your creative process at its core?
HS: My ultimate reason is to prove to myself that I can do anything I put my mind to. I’ve never been able to quit music, no matter how many times I felt like giving up. My whole life I was told who to be and how to act. Breaking those chains and paving my own way puts fuel in me—to prove to myself and to everyone around me.
B: Can you share a moment when a creative risk transformed your work or perspective?
HS: Absolutely. I always did music in English and never thought of trying it in Punjabi. The day I did, everything changed. It taught me to play the hand life deals you—what you think are your weak cards might actually be your strongest.
B: How do you balance staying true to your vision while creating music that resonates with an audience?
HS: That’s tough because I’ve been growing publicly in all aspects of my life. I realized I just have to make music I love, and my fans will find me.
B: If your creative journey were a canvas, what would it look like right now?
HS: Right now, I’d be in the blue skies, standing on top of the clouds. It would be sunny, and I’d be outside these golden gates—ready to go inside, filled with peace, hearing the joy and laughter of people on the other side. Ready for my turn, my moment.
B: Looking ahead, what kind of impact do you hope your artistry leaves behind?
HS: I want to leave an impact by doing music in a healthy, sober way. Leaning on God, leading my fans toward the right way of living, loving themselves, and realizing they don’t need to chase empty, worldly things—because they already have everything they need.
