UNIQLO x INES DE LA FRESSANGE 2020
UNIQLO announces its latest collaboration collection with global fashion icon Ines de la Fressange. The lineup will be available at UNIQLO stores and on uniqlo.com from Thursday, August 27th. This range of wardrobe essentials brings together Ines’ belief in designing clothes that all women can wear with comfort to reveal their beauty, and the LifeWear philosophy of providing innovative, high-quality clothing that is universal in design and comfort, and meets the needs of daily lifestyles.
Saluting Fashion Leaders of the Seventies
Ines found inspiration for this collection from several women whom she has long admired for symbolizing female independence and fashion in the 1970s. Among them are actress, songwriter, and model Jane Birkin and singer-songwriter Françoise Madeleine Hardy. Ines recalls that, “Back in the seventies, many women were determined to emancipate themselves from traditions. These liberated individuals took fashion and their lives in exciting new directions.” This season salutes the enduring inspiration of these pioneers of female freedom.
Three Principal Styling Themes
The first of three principal styling themes for this collection is Bohemian, inspired by the free-spirited culture of the 1970s, celebrated in a variety of twist pleated skirts and dresses in paisley through polka dot prints. As befitting the season, there is a range of knitwear, key pieces featuring folkloric Fair Isle patterns. For the first time in the UNIQLO / INES DE LA FRESSANGE design collaboration, there are items made with proprietary seamless 3D Knit technology that offer outstanding comfort and are in vivid patterns. The second theme is Neobourgeois, through 100% silk blouses and wrap dresses as wardrobe essentials for sophisticated women that can be paired with mouton-style jackets, long cardigans, and culottes for casual occasions. The third theme is Mannish styling, which many women adopted in the 1970s. Examples include the collection’s coats, classical tweed jackets, corduroy pants, and other essentials of masculine coordination.
