One Movie Ticket Please!
Movie ticket? Does the title really say that? While you take a minute to let that sink in, let me tell you a little more about what the ROOFTOP CINEMA CLUB has to offer–even during a pandemic.
Go back in time as you drive up to the Santa Monica Airport parking lot where a giant screen is waiting for you. The ushers will guide you to your spot as you park at a safely distanced spot from everyone else. When leaving your car, you want to make sure to keep your mask on and stay mindful of the pandemic still happening! You can bring food or contactless food options are offered on site. You just place your order online and make your way to the stand when your order is ready!
In January, The Drive-In at Santa Monica Airport will remain open Monday through Sunday, with three screenings scheduled most days. Screening times are as follows:
Matinee screening – start time 5:15-5:45 p.m. (family-focused film)
Prime screening – start time 7:45-8:30 p.m.
Late screening – start time 10:30–11:30 p.m.
Tickets range from $32–48 per vehicle and are priced based on occupancy and day of week. Children 8 years old and under do not count as vehicle occupants. Parking spots are first-come-first-serve and will be assigned by ushers upon arrival. Total capacity for each screening is 200 cars.
There are bathrooms to the right of the screen and the personnel on-site is available and ready to assist you all throughout the movie.
I had the amazing opportunity to go over this weekend where I saw the project of THE GOONIES (for the first time ever may I add)! And this was truly an incredible experience. My friends and I arrived an hour before the screening to get a great spot where we enjoyed some pizzas and drinks before the movie started. Of course, some of us needed some movie time popcorn which was made possible on site.
In case some of you are wondering, yes you can back up your car to sit in the trunk or even bring your truck and sit in the bed of it. As long as you stay within your vehicle and wear a mask when walking away from it, you are good. After all, safety throughout these trying times is crucial.
To add to this, all LA Community Screening ticket sale proceeds will go to benefit the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Community Screenings will take place on select Wednesdays at 5:15 p.m., with tickets available for $5 for a vehicle of up to two guests (The Movie Buddy) and $10 for a vehicle of three or more guests (The Movie Squad).
If you are looking for a hot date idea, family night out fun idea, or just trying to do something else than sitting on your couch at home, check out the listings that are still available and enjoy an experience like no other!
