Netflix has released the trailer for The Good Boss, a six-episode Italian series set in Motor Valley. Zingaretti stars as a factory owner whose well-oiled life breaks down. It arrives December 2.

Giulio Zagni makes steering wheels, and for a long time he has kept everything around him pointed in the right direction. In the new trailer for The Good Boss, Netflix shows what happens when the man at the wheel loses his grip. Luca Zingaretti plays him, and the series arrives on Netflix on December 2.

A man who fixes everything

Giulio is “the perfect boss”. He is the undisputed and beloved ruler of his factory and of his family. If a friend, a relative or an employee veers off course, he is there to set things right, whatever the cost. He is a model entrepreneur from Motor Valley, so a steering-wheel maker fits the setting neatly.

Then the well-oiled machine breaks down. His professional and family life spirals out of control, and the series follows the result through what Netflix calls tragicomic twists and turns and strokes of genius. The question it poses is whether Giulio can get back on track.

The people behind the wheel

The series has six episodes and is produced by Cattleya, part of ITV Studios. It is based on the film El Buen Patrón by Fernando León de Aranoa, who also wrote the series concept.

Michele Pellegrini is Head Writer. His credits include Imma Tataranni – Deputy Prosecutor and The Mafia Kills Only in Summer. He writes alongside Davide Lantieri (Murders at Barlume, The Wedding Days), Marco Pettenello (The Great Ambition, Citizens of the World), Serena Patrignanelli (Electric Rose) and Virginia Virilli (Bang Bang Baby).

Two directors split the run. Roan Johnson, of Murders at Barlume and Piuma, takes the first three episodes. Niccolò Falsetti, of Hello Cruel World and Margins, directs the last three. The production has the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region through the Emilia-Romagna Film Commission.

A crowded paddock

Around Zingaretti sits a long cast: Francesco Colella, Giovanni Esposito, Alessia Giuliani, Carmine Buschini, Alberto Boubakar Malanchino, Sara Drago, Cristina Cappelli, Sara Mondello, Anna Bisciari and Cristina Parku. Singer Nek makes a special appearance. Filippo Tortu, Leonardo Manera, Raul Cremona, Anna Carol, Dente and Davide Toffolo appear as special guests.

The trailer is out now, and the full series follows on December 2, only on Netflix.
