Where does Sapphire Studios come from? Do you remember the moment you knew you wanted to launch this company?
I studied jewelry but left this on the back burner and headed into another career. Later on, I decided to get back into it. I have always loved art and jewelry and really wanted to combine these two.
How did you decide on the name?
We decided upon Sapphire Studios Design as really we considered ourselves to be a studio and not just jewelry but art.
What does the brand mean to you?
I feel incredibly lucky to be able to do what I love. I believe this shows in any work or craftsmanship, you can always tell if there is a real passion behind it. From our well known window displays to our jewelry everything is always created with meaningful intention, everything has a story.
If you could go back to the beginning of it all, what kind of advice would you give yourself?
Take a break!
Tell us about the first placement you have ever gotten with one of your pieces. What was it for? How were you feeling?
One of our first placements was in Harpers Bazaar which was really exciting!
What is Sapphire Studios purpose?
We didn’t want to create ‘cookie cutter’ designs. We want to differentiate from what may be considered normal for an engagement ring. Sapphire Studios is about being yourself, because we are all different.
We get a lot of customers telling us how personal a particular design is to them, this is our goal, to create something individual and meaningful. To tell a story through our jewelry.
How does your creative process go when coming up with new designs?
I’m always inspired by art, literature, poetry, music, nature… Often we use themes from some of our favorite books and stories and design around these. Some of our recent collections are our Alice In Wonderland Collection and our Nevermore Collection inspired by the works of Edgar Allan Poe.
If you have to describe your jewelry as a music genre, which would it be and why?
That’s a hard one! As our collections vary a lot, from traditional and feminine to gothic to pop culture. I think we would be a mix of alternative/rock/electronic.
As we get closer to 2021, what are your plans for the brand?
We have some exciting new collections that we are working on!
