Connect with Vogue During Their ‘A Moment With the Met’ Livestream on YouTube
Under normal circumstances, the fashion industry’s annual Met Gala would have taken place today, May 4. Unfortunately, the coronavirus (COVID-19) has managed to put a halt on this year’s event, but that doesn’t mean that the world cannot still gather, and celebrate for a day of creativity, music, and fashion.
Starting today at 6 p.m. EDT (3 p.m PST) on YouTube, Vogue will be presenting a livestream that will feature words from Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, a performance by Florence + the Machine, and a surprise DJ set by Louis Vuitton menswear Artistic Director and CEO of Off-White, Virgil Abloh himself.
The event is sure to attract a high volume of fans, most likely due to the fact that New York City’s Met Gala is normally not accessible to the public. Traditionally speaking, the guests of the event are invited by Anna Wintour herself, with tickets normally costing astronomically high for those who are not personally invited. But the event is a charitable one, so all proceeds are donated to the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
In addition to the live stream that will be taking place on YouTube, viewers will also be able to attend other virtual events, such as Liza Koshy’s ‘Best Red Carpet Moments’ at 10 a.m. EDT (7 a.m. PST), ‘Life in Looks: Naomi Campbell’ at 3 p.m. EDT (12 p.m. PST), and ‘Everything You Need to Know About the Met Gala’ at 7 p.m. EDT (4 p.m.) PST.
To maintain the charitable contributions that are normally made during the prestigious event, the virtual Met Gala will also donate to the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, as well as a Common Thread–an organization currently helping to bring awareness and resources to those affected by COVID-19 within the American fashion community.
Make sure to tune into Vogue’s YouTube channel today, in order to take part in this special event.
