Christian Klump’s Woodwork and Art
Ho! Ho! Ho! Christmas is just around the corner and what better way to celebrate the Holidays than with some joy, laughter, and amazing gifts? While you are sitting at home making your different lists, make sure to add Christian Klump’s Woodwork and Art to them! The vast majority of the wood used is locally sourced from piles destined for firewood.
“I choose crotch pieces, ugly roots, burl, and any misshapen pieces when I look for wood. They are usually the most interesting specimen.”—Christian Klump
Making his brand also environmentally friendly, the talented artist is mindful of the world around him and channels the idea of reducing, reusing, recycling! Using a moisture-resistant finish, his different products will last you for years so you can look back on this year and continue to create memories around them. Each bowl is unique in its own way, leaving you with a variety of designs to choose from as you scout for the perfect gift for your loved one. And let’s not forget his beautiful paintings too!
Partnering with his very talented daughter, Emily Klump, it’s safe to say that this is a family business and you can feel it as you hold one of their pieces in your hands! So, in the spirit of the Holidays, make your way to the website and see which piece you are drawn to…
About Christian Klump
My background in woodworking started in Germany with my apprenticeship as a luthier, where I built guitars, banjos, mandolins, and the occasional folk instrument like dulcimers. What was supposed to be a 6 month trip around the world turned into me emigrating to the USA. In Los Angeles, I joined IATSE Local 729 and painted movie sets and scenery until retirement. Currently, I paint landscapes in oil. During Covid quarantines, I picked up the skill of woodturning. It has always intrigued me for its freedom of expression, and it is something I haven’t done previously. Unbound by traditional forms and norms, I find it liberating.
